Cameron Leeds Dies in Liberty County Train Accident on MO 210
Liberty County, Missouri (September 27, 2018) – One person was killed and another one injured Wednesday morning in a crash that involved a train and a truck in Liberty County, authorities said.
The incident took place at about 9:40 a.m. September 26 in the 1400 block of Missouri 210.
According to the report, the truck’s driver Cameron Leeds, 26, of Gladstone and a 58-year-old Liberty employee were traveling near the city’s tree-limb disposal and waited for a westbound train to pass. When the train passed, the truck made an attempt to cross the intersection and was struck by an eastbound Norfolk Southern operated train.
Leeds was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated by the responding Liberty Fire Department officers. He suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to the injuries.
The 20-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital where he remained hospitalized in stable condition.
Police are still gathering more information to determine factors surrounding the fatal incident.
